Mystery Manila: World of Wizardry Review

"Yer a wizard harry," I remember telling myself as the elevator opens up trying to get my mind conditioned at the task ahead. Sadly that's about as much I know about Harry Potter as I have yet to finish a single movie or read a single book about the franchise. I'm more familiar with the wizards in the D&D Arcade than I am with Rowlings much beloved franchise. And yet here I am with my partner in wizarding-ish escapades at Mystery Manila hoping to have a spell at Mystery Manila's World of Wizardry which was an escape room based out of the Harry Potter books. We booked an evening schedule after work as usual and had dinner before we head out to save the wizard world from the evils that plagues it.

Mystery Manila is the first live role playing game in the Philippines. Its idea is simple. One room, One mystery, One hour, One way out.

Manila Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2018

What better way to start the year right than indulging oneself into ones Hobby. This is what Manila Hobbies & Collectibles Convention 2018 was all about. Considered as one of the first major otaku/geek event of the year 2018, the event caters to toy enthusiast and collectors from both eastern and western side of the Hobby. I got to SM Megamall at around pass two in the afternoon which was longer than anticipated since I had trouble getting a ride that day which was odd since it was a Sunday. I got myself a bottle of water at the SM Foodcourt and headed up the fifth floor where the event was being held.

Brought by Hobby at Worx, the same folks behind such awesome events like Collecticon and TagCom and a lot more others. Manila Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2018 was a two day event from January 20 and 21 during the weekends held at Megatrade Hall 3 of SM Megamall in the Philippines.

The Game Everyone Wanted is Here - Street Fighter V Arcade Edition

Throughout the years and the many fighting games that come and go Street Fighter will forever be at the heart of every fighting game fan out there. This started the trend that is the fighting game genre. Although its not perfect and has its up and down and some would argue it has lost its appeal to a lot of fighting gamer its still at its core a good fighting game one could go into and just have fun with. Now on its initial fifth game in the core game (not counting Zero and the Special Edition) Street Fighter V has received mixed reactions from fans and newcomers alike with its somewhat lacking Arcade Mode and other features that was missing in its first release back in 2016.

Now with the new updates Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is loaded with free content for all SF V players. Something that should have been present in the original release two years ago. The new updates will fix a lot of issues in the game as well as drop a ton load of new content that almost everyone will surely love.

Is Capcom Finally Getting Ready to Reveal the Resident Evil Remake

Fans have long requested a remake of the much beloved Resident Evil 2 PlayStation One survival horror game since the remake of the first Resident Evil games remake met with a lot of positive comments. But it was not until sometime during 2015 that fans get an official announcement of The Resident Evil 2 Remake was officially being made, but no gameplay or footage from the game was ever shown. All we folks had to go on was a logo for the PS1 revival and the confirmation that it is being made. Since then Capcom has gone quiet on the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Aside from confirming it’ll be a full remake rather than a remastered HD. Back in June he said the highly anticipated game would be out “soon”. It's expected to be released on PS4 and Xbox One.

Resident Evil 2 is fast approaching its 20th birthday, with next Sunday January 21 going to be two decades since it was first released. For those who dont know, Resident Evil 2 was originally released on January 21 1998 in Japan and North America before a European release on April 29 1998. So looks like our patience is going to off, with a number of things pointing towards a Resident Evil 2 Remake announcement soon.

12 Cartoons that Needs a Reboot

Many would agree that the 80's and the 90's was considered the boom of Saturday morning cartoons. There's pretty much a lot of good stuff back then enough to make at the least five Top 12 list. It was that good of a time. Even today you can just see how much a cartoon like Transformers is churning in lots of profit at the movies with each new installment regardless if the movie plot even followed the source material or even makes sense. We even get treated with a bunch of reboots recently as well that with Thundercats and the latest Transformers cartoon version. Heck, even Duck Tales are making a good reboot. But I think we all can agree that there are still a lot more of those old cartoons that we would like to see make a rebooted comeback. So I decided to make a list of my own.

Since there are rumors of a new He-man movie coming out and maybe a Swatkats reboot or continuation in the works Im not going to include those on the list. The 80's and 90's had plenty of good cartoons so I'm pretty sure a lot of them wont make it on this one but that just goes to show how great they all are. In any case this is my list of 12 Cartoons that Needs a Reboot.

Breakout Manila: Press Play Review

I have always been a fan of detective novels. The typical whodunit kind of tale where you solve logic puzzle and searched for clues at a given scene to solve. It challenges ones logic, analogy and keen sense of observation. I cant say Im good at it but much like playing video games its a nice mind tickler on a lazy weekend. Solving puzzles to get that oh so precious gem or key to unlock a hidden door to the next area. I have always wanted to try one but most of them involve some sort of fear or horror theme and sadly as much as I hate to admit it I scare rather easily. That was until I found out about Breakouts new theme room is titled Press Play which judging by the poster is an 8 bit video game inspired Escape Room. Being a big fan of the 8 bit nostalgic games like Mario and Pacman I knew Ive found the Escape Room for me.

But what is an Escape Room?

Escape Room games is a concept that originated in the 90’s from
Japan called “Takagism” and has challenged gamers from all over the world. Just recently, this experience has been taken to the next level by being brought to real life! With your team, you need to observe and use your environment to find hidden objects, decipher clues and solve puzzles to unlock different stages until you finally Breakout from the room.

RWBY: Volume 5 Chapter 12 Reaction and Review

RWBY Volume 5 Chapter 12 just dropped on youtube and here I am once again with another Review and Reaction on the latest chapter. First off I'd like to apologize for the typing error on my first RWBY Review on this Blog that is Volume 5 Chapter 11 that I wrote Volume 10 Chapter 11. I didn't mean to mislead anyone with that title its just one big mistake and I hope not to make the same mistake in future.

Now getting back into the Review and Discussion of things we still have 2 more Chapters to go after Chapter 12 so more stuff coming up until we hit Chapter 14 which is the final chapter for this Volume. Most of the Volume 5 Chapters is more about character development than all out action that we got during the previous volumes that is in a way a good thing since it fleshes out the characters and their motivations and background and not just something there to fight. So without further delay this is my reaction and review to RWBY Volume 5 Chapter 12: Vault of the Spring Maiden.

My Top 12 Most Anticipated Anime of 2018

Theres a whole bunch of anime coming out in 2018. A lot of great anime's are getting a new season this year after being no news of a sequel for more than a year. Some new ones. A lot of them I'm excited to see and some...not so much. So Id like to remind everyone that this is my list so don't go crying a river when your most awaited anime this year didn't make it on the list. It just means we got different taste. There are anime I am looking forward to watching this year that isnt in the list as well like Made in Abyss and Seven Deadly Sins: Revival since I'm not that hyped about them as I would the 12 that I listed below.

I should have posted this blog earlier but I guess I got too caught up on other stuff to get around to it. Well better late than never it seems. In any case this would be my most 12 Most Anticipated Anime for 2018.

Cosplay Geek Highlight: David D'Angelo

I've remember meeting sir David D'Angelo back in 2012 during the A CausetoPlay: 1st Rizal Park Costume Play Convention.  It was a cosplay tourism/charity event held at Luneta Park Philippines. It had everything you'd expect from a cosplay convention short of the cosplay booths. We also entertained folks at Bahay Walang Hagdanan - a non-stock, non-profit and non-government organization that aims to uplift the lives of the Orthopedically handicapped persons.

It was my first experience of doing charity events while in costume and its one of my best event since cosplaying. Sir Angelo taught me that you can enjoy cosplay and help bring smile to kids and total stranger. He is well known and loved by the cosplay community in the Philippines. His Mr. Satan cosplay is done to near perfection right down to Mr. Satan mannerism and he even sounds like the actual character in the Dragon ball franchise as well. I'm so glad I got to feature him in my Blog. I also asked him a few cosplay questions about cosplay.

Ferdinand Movie Spoiler Free Review

I just watched the movie Ferdinand in theaters. Its one of those movies that I was curious about last year. It was supposed to be aired sometime December last year but due again to the Metro Manila Film Festival that happens December it was moved at a later date along with a couple of other movies. Like most movies I am not familiar with I went into the theater with low expectation and an open mind. So to judge the movie fairly I went home after watching the film and did some quick research before writing this review and wow did I discovered a lot.

Ferdinand an animated comedy, drama adventure by Blue Sky StudiosDavis Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Animation. it was based on Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson's children's book The Story of Ferdinand, written by Robert L. Baird, Tim Federle and Brad Copeland and directed by Carlos Saldanha. Its about a big bull that is mistaken as a dangerous beast. The film features the voices of John CenaKate McKinnonAnthony AndersonBobby CannavalePeyton ManningGina RodriguezMiguel Ángel Silvestre and David Tennant

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet - Opening Movie Reaction and Review

The cinematic movie for the new game Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet just dropped on youtube yesterday and its looking awesome. Its definitely a step up from Sword Art Online Hallow Realization. Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet plays a lot like Freedom Wars, and if you have seen the gameplay or played Freedom Wars you know this is going to be good stuff. The hype is real.

For those still unfamiliar with Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet, its the new Sword Art Online based game created by Dimps which is a video game development studio from Osaka japan that is partly responsible for creating games such as the Dragonball Budokai series for the Playstation 2.

My Top 12 Most Underrated Anime

Theres literary a lot of anime that comes out every year and sadly a lot of them comes unnoticed due to a lot of the folks obsessed or are into certain anime series that is the main trend for the anime community at that time. Dont get me wrong theres nothing wrong with liking an anime series with a ninja that runs around in an range jacket or an alien monkey that changes hair color and hair style with each power level, I just feels some of the lesser known anime deserve some recognition too.

There is basically a lot of anime that really went under the radar every year due to it being new, lack advertisement and isnt about a death god with orange hair or some skinny straw hat person with the ability to stretch out part of his body like Dhalsim from Street Fighter. So I made a list of some of these underrated anime that I think deserved more attention than they are originally given. This isnt a complete list as I know theres a lot more of these shows than I can write down but I will list at least 12 right off my head for this one. So these are my Top 12 most underrated anime.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Spoiler Free Review

Finally got to Watch Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle booked a 9 o clock screening as early as 4 o clock since Ive wanted to see this since December last year. Since the Philippines held the Metro Manila Film Festival last December the movie Jumanji: Welcome the Jungle was moved to a much later date to January 8 instead of the December 21 as it was originally intended. I've tried to stay away from movie reviews and pretty much anything pertaining to this film in preparation for making this review. I had watched the first Jumanji (1995) movie years ago when I was a kid and ive re-watched it and done a review of the first film in preparation for this new film.
This is a spoiler free review since I feel this is a movie that everyone should experience watching themselves.

You can read my Jumanji (1995) here: Jumanji (1995) Review

RWBY Volume 5 Chapter 11 Review

Well Volume 5 Chapter 11 just dropped on youtube and its high time again for me to review it. In the last Chapter we found out that raven has switched sides for her and her tribes self preservation. That she and Salem has planned to set a trap for Qrow and his group with a little help from the headmaster of Haven, Leonardo Lionheart. The last Chapter also concludes the Menagerie arc of Blake. Sun and her are rallying troops to help in the defense of Haven Academy. But will their help make it on time.

Here is my quick review of Chapter 10:

RWBY is an American anime-style web series created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. The show is set in the fictional world of Remnant, where young people train to become Huntsmen and Huntresses to protect their world from the creatures of Grimm.

Cosplay Geek Highlight: Louise Rivaille

Here we have an awesome Leo Kliesen cosplay by Louise Rivaille from Tekken.

Leo Kliesen or Eleonore Kliesen first appeared in the official Tekken 6 trailer and I think she pulled the character off nicely. Leo entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament in the hope of uncovering more about his deceased mother, who had been a researcher for the Mishima Zaibatsu.

"Ive been playing Tekken since I was in high school. From playing, ive been told that Id fit Leo by some players. I was moved by the compliment but the actual push to cosplay her was my friend who invited me to join his cosplay group for a competition."

Ang Panday (2017) Movie Review

Due to a very busy Christmas Season all the way down to New year I didnt have time to watch or do much MMFF Movie review but I did managed to catch Ang Panday after New Year Eve. Truth be told Im not a big fan of the franchise although Ill admit I did managed to watch a good share of Panday on and off since the 80's with FPJ right down to Bong Revilla's version. It was mostly kids movie and it had been rebooted and remade a lot of times in both the big and small screen that I really didnt have any high hopes for it going into the theater.

The 2017 Ang Panday is the seventh installment of the Panday series. The film is directed, produced and starred by Coco Martin in the title role. It is distributed and produced by Star Cinema with Martin's own film company CCM Film Productions, and Viva Films.

My Top 12 Most Anticipated Games of 2018

A new year and new game releases. The year 2017 was already jam packed with great games and this new year is going to be no exception. Theres basically a lot of great games scheduled to be coming out and listing them all will be far too long so I have narrow things up on 12 games instead of the usual 10 that I used to do.

Take note these are the Top 12 Games Im looking forward to this year So dont blow a gasket if your anticipated games this year dont make this list. Games like Shadow of Colossus good as it is wont be making this list simply because it didnt bring anything notably new aside from the improved graphics. With that out of the way lets get on with the list

With the new Sword Art Online game from Bandai artfully named Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet finally nearing its released date this February I think its about I made a short article about it now. Top Ten Most Anticipated Movies of 2018

So the new year has just rolled in and a lot of folks are probably still recovering from the crazy roller coaster ride of movies that that got every otaku, geek and everyone else in between. Some movies being a hit and miss at the box office and at the fans hearts. Love them or hate them we can all agree that last year was an awesome year for geeks and fans alike.

But hey it can turn out great so who knows. Anyways lets get started.
