RWBY: Volume 5 Chapter 12 Reaction and Review

RWBY Volume 5 Chapter 12 just dropped on youtube and here I am once again with another Review and Reaction on the latest chapter. First off I'd like to apologize for the typing error on my first RWBY Review on this Blog that is Volume 5 Chapter 11 that I wrote Volume 10 Chapter 11. I didn't mean to mislead anyone with that title its just one big mistake and I hope not to make the same mistake in future.

Now getting back into the Review and Discussion of things we still have 2 more Chapters to go after Chapter 12 so more stuff coming up until we hit Chapter 14 which is the final chapter for this Volume. Most of the Volume 5 Chapters is more about character development than all out action that we got during the previous volumes that is in a way a good thing since it fleshes out the characters and their motivations and background and not just something there to fight. So without further delay this is my reaction and review to RWBY Volume 5 Chapter 12: Vault of the Spring Maiden.

The Chapter pretty much opens up right where we left off with Cinder pretty much going a shish kabob on little Weiss when the poor girl is busy fending off Vernal attacks. Ruby also got attacked in the back when she was preoccupied trying to use her silver eyes when she saw Jaune being an idiot the last Chapter, running into his certain death. Its like Jaune pretty much gone stupid in the last chapter and is just turned cannon fodder.

Ozpin and Nora eventually gets to help out Ruby while Jaune and Renn goes to check on Weiss. But not before dear Leo leonheart spilled the beans on little Oscar revealing him to be Ozpin. Id like to point out that I so want Leo eliminated during this part. he has done nothing but taking pot shots at Ruby's group and doesnt care who he has to sacrifice just so he can survive.

Figuring this out Cinder decides to leave the fight and decides to go after the Relic with raven and Vernal leaving the others on her group to take care of Ozpins group and buy her more time. Likely thinking that she would have a better chance against Ozpin if she had the relic. Shes one power hungry lady. I wouldn't be surprised in future volumes if she backstabs Salem as well.

This new revelation infuriates Hazel however and decides to go after Oscar. Hazel and Ozpin seems to have a history together and we eventually find out about the tale of Hazels little sister Rachel, and why this big hazel has a beef to grind with dear Ozpin. hmm....Hazel and Rachel, Like...Hanzel and Gretel?

I'm impressed how mature Oscar has become in just two to three chapters before this, when before he used to question Ozpin and Ruby on why they fight. And here he is taking on the biggest guy in Cinders group. of course with Raven gone Qrow was tehre to back him up. But still most folks would have run away. In fact Ozpin even told him to run too.

Im calling it. Hazel injecting himself with crystal dust to give him electric powers and more strength reminds me so much of how Bane gets himself pumped. Im sure a lot of folks will have the same idea after seeing that one. Then again those crystal shards sticking out of his arm has a Doomsday feel to them. That pretty much explains all those scars on his hands. Guess he really cared for Rachel if he is willing to go that far. Wished he would go to the good guy side in future chapters but then again they Blake group already got Ghira.

We eventually get to see Jaune unlock his aura on this chapter and Im sure a lot of folks have called it. About time we get a Semblance that isnt used for attacking. From the most useless character to probably the most vital character they got due to him unlocking his semblance. Folks will be making theories of his ability right down to the next volume as its probably still developing. We will have to see.

With Ruby somewhat recovering she runs off to help Yang as she fights against Mercury and Emerald, making the fight a two versus two. And Ruby is pissed. Im sure with Ruby knowledge of Emeralds illusion during the Vidal Tournament and Yang having encountered it before they have devised some type of strategy against it. Oh and team RNJR is officially a thing at this point.

Ozpin takes over Oscars body and the fights began anew as Cinder, Vernal and Raven eventually reached the room with the relic and I like to point out how nicely rendered this area is. Like something out of an RPG.

Of course Cinder being Cinder begins to backstab her new allies in order to gain more power. We also learn why her left arm is all covered up and pretty much why Ruby's silver eyes has a strong affect on her. She could nearly get away with it too if not for Raven being about a step further than her.

The next Chapter is going to be hyped hopefully we get to see Blake and her group come to the rescue as there is still the White Fang that they have to deal with. Not to mention strong as raven is I doubt she can hold for very long against Cinder. And the next Chapter is Chapter 13 too...not exactly a good number.

But whatever the case that duel with Raven and Cinder in the next Chapter will be an encounter Maiden Heaven (<-- pun intended)
