Geekatana Movie Review: Pokemon: Detective Pikachu

Video game to movie films have a long line of bad reputation. Titles like Doom, Resident Evil, Street Fighter and the likes entertaining as they have a tendency fail to live up to the video game they are based upon so when a movie based on Pokemon comes along you can't help but have low expectations. The trailer promising as it seems isn't really that reassuring. And abomination of a trailer that was Sonic the Hedgehog certainly isn't helping any either.

I am not a fan of Pokemon and my knowledge of it stems from a few matches of playing Pokemon Arena. Not to mention I can only name at the most five Pokemon right on the top of my head. But still the trailer intrigued me enough to go see it and I won't hold the movie down cause of my lack of Pokemon knowledge.

Geekatana Food Review: 8 Cuts Burger Blends

My first experience with 8 Cuts Burger Blends is when my sister invited me to lunch one weekday afternoon. I haven't written any food review on this Blog simply cause I'm clearly no expert when it comes to describing taste and flavor. But I guess one's got to learn to jump in the water first before one can learn how to swim.

I first encountered 8 Cuts Burger Blends when my sister invited me for lunch one afternoon and recommended to try the place out. The place was crowded that we have to settle for a seat outside so you can tell the place is really well known by this time.

Geekatana Movie Review: Avengers Endgame

Was lucky enough to be able to watch this movie on the first day of showing. We reserved our seats almost a week before the day of showing and we were forced to take a screening time much differently than the usual movie time we get when watching movies. A lot of hype and great expectations were hanging on this film.

The film was clocked at around three hours and is probably the longest MCU movie to date. A make or break move by the folks at Marvel for sure. This will be a spoiler free review as I know a lot of folks have yet seen Avengers End Game in theaters.

Geekatana Review: Kamen Rider Kuuga

Those that know me well enough know that I'm also a big super sentai and kamen rider fan. And although I'm not as hardcore as some of my friends I do delve into them when I have time. I haven't posted anything for a while since I've been rather busy on things so I thought what better way to get back into the swing of things than to do this type of review...mainly a kamen rider one.

I've been putting off making a review of these for a long while now so I thought today might be a good day to start a quick review of one. And what better way to start one than to do a review of Kamen Rider Kuuga. Also some minor spoilers ahead.

Geekatana Movie Review: Captain Marvel

Me and my sister went to watch Captain Marvel on opening day after work. We were hoping to buy tickets after we got off that day but we were surprised that all seats were taken right up to the 11 pm last screening. First time I seen a movie that had this much folks watching and it's not even the weekends yet. We had to settle for front row seats just so we can watch the film early, two of only five seats available. And we barely made the 7 15 screening time as we got our tickets at around 7:05 pm. The entire experience was a first of many thing.

Safe to say there's a lot of stuff riding on in this movie as this film does not only connect to the Avengers End game but is probably the first movie with a female lead character in a Marvel film ever. There's also some controversy about Brie and the film itself.

Geeektana Movie Review: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

Now that that I've done a quick review of the first two How to Train films it's time to do the review for the third film. We watched this a few days after opening night and we had to take the 3D one since the regular ones are already full for that day. The folks at Dreamworks did an excellent job at marketing and handling the film since both the previous films before this has been solid ones which is rare for animated fantasy films.

I did a quick review of the first two films before seeing this film in theaters and tried to stay away from spoilers. Even so I went with an open mind since I have been disappointed way too much in the past.

Geektana Movie Review: How to Train Your Dragon 2

With the first movie out of the way I guess it's time to get into the second movie in this franchise. I'm guessing the first film did so well that the powers that be wanted another one. Well nothing new there really. Sadly the way sequels work it's not usually a guaranteed hit in fact most sequels to great films turn out to be flop.

The trailer didn't show much that's for sure except for the fact that Hiccup has some new tricks and has aged a bit. Still I was interested on what else they can bring to the franchise. But before we get into further I must warn that there will be minor spoilers but I think everyone has seen the film by now.

Geekatana Movie Review: How to Train Your Dragon (2010)

As for the usual I want to do a quick review of the first two How to Train Your Dragon film before we dive into the third film cause it helps in giving us a wider perspective of all the movies of this franchise as a whole.

Since this movie came out way back in 2010 I will probably have some spoilers in this review. But I think everyone has seen this film by now so I don't see that as much of a problem. But just in case I'm putting that idea out there before we dive into this one.

Geekatana Movie Review: The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

With the first LEGO movie out of the way it's time to do a review of sequel. I wasn't be able to watch this film on the first day as we intended to. which was February 14. I watched this film on the last day with the last screening time with my sister in a theater with only the two of us.

That was like very late at night compared to when I usually watch these movies. Just me and my sister in the theater that I can probably lay down and occupy five seats if I wanted to. It felt like a private screening and the two of us are the only ones in the theater. Kind of fun...and creepy...and really, really cold.

Geekatana Movie Review: The LEGO Movie (2014)

A lot of unsuspected stuff is happening around me lately that I'm really running short on all these review but before I delve into reviewing the second LEGO movie I'd decided to make a review of the first one since its way over due for a review at this point.

I like to add that although I'm a fan of minifig I haven't watched every LEGO film out there and this is probably my first review of a LEGO film to date. I just like to put that out there before I delve into this review.

Hobbs and Shaw Trailer Reaction

I haven't really watch every Fast and the Furious film that rolled out of theaters but even I have to admit that the franchise was thoroughly entertaining. Sure it has some elements that defy logic and reason in exchange for over the top action scenes. Most notable the usual argument of "That's not how cars work" here and there.

I thought the franchise was still on hiatus with the lost of its lead actor Paul Walker so imagine my surprise when this movie trailer dropped. It peaked my interest so much that I have to make a trailer breakdown of it. So let's break the trailer down shall we.
