Geekatana Movie Review: Aladdin (2019)

It seems like a lot of Disney animated films are getting the live action treatment these days. It all started back in 2010 with Alice in Wonderland followed by Cinderella and Disney hasn't shown any signs of stopping any time soon. So fast forward to present year 2019 and we now get to a live version adaptation of Aladdin. I'm not much for fairy tale stories but Aladdin holds a special place in my heart as it's one of my favorite Disney animated movies of all time.

Yes I'm one of those folks who thinks that Aladdin is ok as it is and didn't need a live action adaptation. The trailer was ok but not enough to make me excited for the movie. In fact I'd probably went to see it just to compare it to the animation one. And boy do I have a lot to say about it too. I'll try not to spoil the story but this is a live action adaptation of Aladdin so there's probably not too much to spoil.

Geekatana Anime Review: Fate Stay Night

My introduction to the Fate series back in 2006 was through a friend of mine and being as I'm a fan of Tsukihime series I sort of jumped into this head first. This was based on a visual novel by Type Moon after all. Although the visual novel has three routes the first anime adaptation of the novel that came out in 2006 was based on the Fate route. The other two route being Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel.

Since Fate Stay Night was the first animated adaptation released I'd decided to review this but I will compare this to the other two a little bit just so folks know where this first one stacks up compared to the rest of the routes.

Geekatana Game Review: LEGO Marvel Superheroes

Being both a LEGO fan and a comics fan I have played a number of comic related LEGO games and I've had wanted to do a review of one for such a while now. Namely cause I don't know which one I'll do first but I just said to the heck of it all and started with the first one that popped into my mind and that is LEGO Marvel Superheroes.

This game spawned a sequel and probably a spin off. I'm not sure myself since the both the spin off and the sequel both connect to this one differently. But I guess that would be a topic for another review. So buckle up cause this can get confusing. Also possible minor spoilers.

Geekatana Food Review: Classic Milk tea McFloat and Wintermelon McFloat

Milk tea drinks has always been a guilty pleasure for me. I've probably tried most of the well known Milk tea shops in the Metro and even some local not so well known ones. On top of that I'm also a big fan of McDonald's. So when I found out McDonalds is going to have a Milk Tea McFloat on their menu I know I have to try it and make a review of it.

McDonalds has always been my go to place for their delicious fries, ice coffee and my personal favorite strawberry ice cream. And I'd probably tried everything on their menu by now so I'm really excited for this Classic Milk tea McFloat and Wintermelon McFloat they have introduced.

Geekatana Movie Review: Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Being a kid growing up in the 80's I fancy myself as a TMNT fan watching it on television every saturday morning regularly back in 1984 onwards. Then the first ever Batman film came out two years later. Even back then it never in my wildest dreams I'm going to see batman and the pizza loving turtles crossing path specially in a full length movie feature. Then we fast forward to 2019 and we got Batman versus Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I could never be happier.

The movie is loosely based on the comic book with the same title that came out back in December 2015. I haven't read the comics yet but did some research on it before writing this review so don't expect me to make too much comparisons on the comics. Also probably some minor spoilers in this one.

Starwars Day 2019

Starwars Day is an event celebrated yearly by Starwars fans worldwide with it falling during the 4th of May yearly ...or what would Starwars fans would mostly call it May the 4th going with the word play of "May the 4th be with You" making a word play of the famous Starwars quote.

Being a Starwars fan and Starwars cosplayer I wouldn't want to miss this for the world so I grab my cosplay gear and headed to the venue for this once a year event.

Geekatana Movie Review: Pokemon: Detective Pikachu

Video game to movie films have a long line of bad reputation. Titles like Doom, Resident Evil, Street Fighter and the likes entertaining as they have a tendency fail to live up to the video game they are based upon so when a movie based on Pokemon comes along you can't help but have low expectations. The trailer promising as it seems isn't really that reassuring. And abomination of a trailer that was Sonic the Hedgehog certainly isn't helping any either.

I am not a fan of Pokemon and my knowledge of it stems from a few matches of playing Pokemon Arena. Not to mention I can only name at the most five Pokemon right on the top of my head. But still the trailer intrigued me enough to go see it and I won't hold the movie down cause of my lack of Pokemon knowledge.

Geekatana Food Review: 8 Cuts Burger Blends

My first experience with 8 Cuts Burger Blends is when my sister invited me to lunch one weekday afternoon. I haven't written any food review on this Blog simply cause I'm clearly no expert when it comes to describing taste and flavor. But I guess one's got to learn to jump in the water first before one can learn how to swim.

I first encountered 8 Cuts Burger Blends when my sister invited me for lunch one afternoon and recommended to try the place out. The place was crowded that we have to settle for a seat outside so you can tell the place is really well known by this time.

Geekatana Movie Review: Avengers Endgame

Was lucky enough to be able to watch this movie on the first day of showing. We reserved our seats almost a week before the day of showing and we were forced to take a screening time much differently than the usual movie time we get when watching movies. A lot of hype and great expectations were hanging on this film.

The film was clocked at around three hours and is probably the longest MCU movie to date. A make or break move by the folks at Marvel for sure. This will be a spoiler free review as I know a lot of folks have yet seen Avengers End Game in theaters.

Geekatana Review: Kamen Rider Kuuga

Those that know me well enough know that I'm also a big super sentai and kamen rider fan. And although I'm not as hardcore as some of my friends I do delve into them when I have time. I haven't posted anything for a while since I've been rather busy on things so I thought what better way to get back into the swing of things than to do this type of review...mainly a kamen rider one.

I've been putting off making a review of these for a long while now so I thought today might be a good day to start a quick review of one. And what better way to start one than to do a review of Kamen Rider Kuuga. Also some minor spoilers ahead.

Geekatana Movie Review: Captain Marvel

Me and my sister went to watch Captain Marvel on opening day after work. We were hoping to buy tickets after we got off that day but we were surprised that all seats were taken right up to the 11 pm last screening. First time I seen a movie that had this much folks watching and it's not even the weekends yet. We had to settle for front row seats just so we can watch the film early, two of only five seats available. And we barely made the 7 15 screening time as we got our tickets at around 7:05 pm. The entire experience was a first of many thing.

Safe to say there's a lot of stuff riding on in this movie as this film does not only connect to the Avengers End game but is probably the first movie with a female lead character in a Marvel film ever. There's also some controversy about Brie and the film itself.
