Undefeated - One of the best Man of Steel inspired game and it's FREE

If there's anything that Batman Arkham and the new Sony Spider-man showed us is that everyone loves a good superhero game. But why hasn't been there been a good superhero game about Suprman, the first superhero that started it all?

Answers will vary depending on who you ask. But then comes a game like Undefeated. An open world game greatly inspired by the Man of Steel and surprisingly blew nearly everyone's expectations away.

Undefeated is a superhero game created by three student from the Vantan game Academy in Osaka japan. The game lets you control a super powered being ala Man of Steel as you patrol the city stopping crime, rescuing people and protecting the city from being destroyed by super villains.

But how do you make a game about an invincible hero? Simple. Instead of having your character having a lifebar the city you protect is the one with the life meter. You let the city be destroyed or didn't save it on time it's basically a game over for the hero and the player. It's a different approach and fits well into the man of steel theme. So you can be all powerful and invincible all you want but if you don't put your head in the game you will lose.

The game involves doing destruction challenges where you destroy things to protect the city or flight challenges where your character flies around through rings much like the N64 but with better graphics and decent controls. There's even defeating random bad guys and rescue missions and putting out fires ala Hulk. Then there's the boss fights which involves some aerial fights which is like man of Steel vs Zod appeal to it dipped with some dragonball inspired melee.

The graphics of this game is amazing. There's even a sonic boom effect when the character speeds up in mid flight. The windows shatter and cracks as you fly by. Cars gets knocked out and even destroyed when you punch, fly or run pass them. It's the kind of fun open world games like a GTA game but players roam around as a super powered character. This is like a bare bones LEGO Marvel Superheroes game but isn't a LEGO game.   

The game isn't perfect as it could use a skill tree. The city itself definitely needs to be expanded with the addition of sewer areas and maybe the ability to dive underwater. The game still lacks a lot of stuff but considering three students from japan can do this much I can't wait if some big game company give them the budget to actually go all out.

Undefeated is a great game for players who want to experience the closes thing they can get on a Man of Steel like game. It does have some minor issue being the game somewhat a bit short but that's a minor thing considering on how well this game is made.
