Before I get to do a review of Ralph Breaks the Internet I
thought it would only be fair that I should do a review of the first movie before
it and that movie is none other than Wreck It Ralph. I was supposed to do this
days ago but a lot of stuff came up. But hey I'm sure by now I think everyone
has seen this movie in theaters or other media source or another.
Since I wanted to give the new movie a fair judgment be
comparing it to its predecessor I decided to watch the film again and do a
review for my Blog. So with that cleared let's continue on with said Wreck It
Ralph review.
Wreck It Ralph is a film that came out back in November 2012
a full six years before its sequel. The story is about Ralph, a video game villain
of the classic arcade game is so tired of playing the bad guy wants to be a
hero for once and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest eventually
brings a lot of complication as he meets other characters in his journey and
creates havoc in the arcade center.
On
a story perspective this blew my expectations since very few times can a video
game movie deliver in its film. Each of the plot in the film interweave like a
great tapestry that you actually feel yourself hooked on the story right to the
very climactic third act of the film.
Sure
the plot isn't rock solid and I can nitpick on the flaws like how is a mobile game
like Candy Crush doing in an arcade center. But unless you're really nitpicky which
I tend to be most of the time you won't mind such flaws cause at the film has a
really decent character and storyline.
You
really feel for Ralph as he struggles to be a hero cause only heroes are loved
by everyone. You feel for the little girl Vanellope that outcast in a racing
game. You know where their motivations are coming from and can easily relate to
them as they develop as better versions of themselves.
The
visuals is nothing new but is done well enough that it still holds up to this
day. Sure same of the games are rip off of other existing games of that time
but you simply don't care and just roll with it. The audio and the visuals just
blends together nicely.
As
conclusion Wreck It Ralph is a good video game movie. Sure its not perfect but
what it got right makes up more than enough to cover for its flaws. The story,
the characters and the plot falls into pieces nicely that both kids and adults
can easily get into. if you haven't watch this movie I'd highly recommend it wheteher
your into video game movies or not. Of course seeing all those video game
characters is always a plus.
