The
second Bumble Bee movie trailer just dropped and I've decided to share my thoughts and
reaction to it. I've been following this movie progress as far back as rumors of it
began surfacing as far back as the Transformers the Last Knight film. You
folks can watch my trailer reaction and overall thoughts about the first
trailer of Bumble Bee in the link here.
With
a new trailer dropping on the internet I've decided to check it out. This would
be the second trailer they would release for the movie and gave pretty much
viewers what we would expect in the new film.
The
trailer opens up on what we already seen in the first trailer but this time
more of a story on how Hailee Steinfell character Charlie Watson and Bumblebee
meet. Its basically the iron Giant type of story theme from there which is a fresh
new take for a Transformers film.
The
new trailer featured a lot of new Transformers aside from those that we have
already seen from the first trailer which mostly from the Decepticon side of
the spectrum.
Shockwave
was there, Skywarp is there, Soundwave was there...even that pesky pet Ravage
that Soundwave has is also there. And all looking like their Generation One
(G1) forms.
I'm
sure seeing these Transformers looking like their original Generation 1 (G1)
form will give fans of the original fans of the 80's cartoon show a treat. If
the Bumblebee trailer is catering to boast its ticket sales by showing tugging
at the nostalgia string then it's freaking working.
But
seriously seeing all those G1 robot goodness is worth the ticket alone and its
certainly a step in the right direction after the Micheal bay treatment that we
got. Kudos to the designer of the robots of the Bumblebee movie for staying true
to their original forms and doing their research. They even got the G1 Cybertron
planes near identical to the 80's cartoon look.
Here's
a comparison from the very first episode of the original 80's Transformers cartoon and the one briefly shown in the trailer. They got the triangle aesthetic right.
This
is also probably the first time we had an actual female Transformers (if you
don't count Quinntessa from Transformers: The Last Knight) and judging from the
trailer this new Transformers is a triple changer as in having two vehicle form.
After
checking on what I can find on the internet I'm guessing this female
Transformer will be called Shatter and the helicopter that can turn into a blue car would be Dropkick.
Dropkick
is from the IDW Comics line of Transformers and also the 2007 games. His toy
Transforms into a blue Chevrolet camaro and a version that transforms into a
helicopter. Also John Cena is in this movie but I can't seem to find him.
I dont get why they got this empty part here since it really shows nothing |
As far as Shatter goes I'd say she is probably influenced by Slipstream a Decepticon
female Transformer but since Shatter has a red tone I'd say she resembles
Windblade from the IDW Comics and the Transformers Combiner Wars and Robots in
Disguise series.
Here's
a comparison of all three of them. In the center is Shatter from the trailer,
on the left is Windblade from the Transformers Combiner War and on the right is
Slipstream which is pretty much a color swap of Windblade.
The
true icing on the cake for this trailer is Optimus Prime voiced by none other than Peter Cullen
himself and looking pretty much like the G1 version Optimus Prime in all its awesomeness.
Clearly it's something Transformers fans have been wanting to see since the very
first Michael Bay Transformers was shown in theaters.
Sure
I could argue that the cgi effects on Cybertron scenes feels more like the game
Transformers War on Cybertron and isn't as polished as realistic as the ones done
on the earth scenes Transformers but that's more of a personal preference than
an actual complain.
Im glad they didn't spoil anything in this new trailer. Like who is the main bad guy or why the Decepticon are looking for Bee and all the other ten questions I got running to my mind that the movie will most likely answer when the film comes out in theaters.
