Jurassic World (2015) Movie Review

With the Jurassic Park trilogy of movie reviews done its time to do a quick review of Jurassic World which is the fourth movie in the Jurassic franchise. For those that don't know yet I'm doing a review of all the Jurassic films that came before Jurassic World the Fallen Kingdom. Jurassic World came out in 2015 and continues around 20 years or so after the first movie.

The film stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dellas Howard in the main roles. Some of the characters from the previous movie appears in this film but are portrayed by a different actor sadly.

The plot of Jurassic World is pretty much what Jurassic Park sets up to be and that is a theme park with real dinosaurs. But to attract more tourist and visitors they created a hybrid dinosaur which eventually escapes its cage and goes out on a killing rampage.

The movie does starts out slow but speeds up when the new hybrid dinosaur is first shown in its cage. I do so love how they handled this new hydrid dinosaurs ability and how it factors in on how it escapes and hunts throughout the film. Kind of wished they explored them more but the film is already 2 hours long.

For character aspect Chris Pratt nails this one good. I was worried he would feel like Starlord in the film but I'm glad he isn't. He is charming and likable in a different way in this film. That being said the scenes with the kids is probably one of the low parts of the film but I guess this films need to have that scene for the kids to relate to but I kind of wished they did it better.

Cinematography was great and I love how they handled this new hybrid dinosaurs abilities and how it plays into the plot and of how dangerous this new creature is. Halfway part of the movie up to the third final act is one of my favorite parts of the film. The last thirty minutes got nearly everything I love about the Jurassic franchise.

The effects was good but not perfect since there are some shots where you can tell that they are just staring out into space instead of staring into this creature. You won't really notice it much unless you're actually looking at how the effects are shown but that's a small flaw I guess to an otherwise great visual film. And they used the original score from the first film too.

A whole the movie is enjoyable and good despite the flaws I mentioned and certain sub plots that weren't really explored. Some scenes are better left removed or done better. Pratt could just go on rescuing a bunch random tourist here and there and the movie could still work I think. Still a good movie and I'd easily recommend to fans of Jurassic series and dinosaurs.
