Due
to my busy schedule me and my sister wasn't able to watch this movie on opening
night and had to settle for watching it the following day. We even had an issue
with the movie reservation that I'm glad was cleared out just half an hour or
so before the movie started. Me and my sister had stayed away from spoilers and
the internet for the most part in preparation for this movie review. So with
popcorn in one hand and a cold one in the other me and my sister entered the
movie theater with great anticipation and excitement.
With
that being said this will be a spoiler free review as I feel this movie should
be watched and enjoyed by everyone in the big screen.
Back
in 2008 the movie ironman hit the big screen where casual moviegoers and comic geek
fans was treated to the story of marvel comics billionaire playboy genius
turned superhero. And although there has been superhero movies before this it
was this movie that gave spark to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and set the new
bar for superhero movies. Now in 2018 with ten plus films under the MCU belt
it tries to set the bar again with its latest movie installment Avengers
Infinity War. Every MCU movie since 2008 was in preparation for this.
Story wise the movie is an intricate weave of scenes and upon scenes that never lets up
and keeps giving more. You might find yourself laughing at one certain scene
only to find yourself gripping at your seat at an awesome fight scene just
minutes later. There's really a lot of stuff happening right after the Marvel
Logo opens up right into the final moments of the movie. The great part is
despite its vast character list and scene after scene scenario the characters
find themselves caught into the whole narrative is so perfectly done that you
don't feel confused at what is happening on screen. You will feel a rainbow of
emotions watching this film from excitement, to love. to laughter, to hatred.
This movie blends it all just right.
That
being said this is Infinity War and it does put the War in the movie and the
death count is probably far more than anyone can count. I find myself barely able
to blink afraid that I will miss something crucial. Since a lot of fans have
grown up with these movies with its ten year of MCU movies you feel invested on
these characters and that makes the narrative even more appealing.
This
movies has enough time to flesh out the character of Thanos and the Infinity
Stones. You will find out why he does what he does whether you agree with him
or not is up to you to decide once you watch the movie.
The
action sequences is impressive as always...maybe better. Just seeing how each
of the character plays out on each other's strength and weaknesses to take down
each of their opponents is pure eye candy. Its like a well choreographed dance
or well executed play at a football or basketball game with minutes remaining.
The
music score fits every scene seamlessly. You get a Guardians of the Galaxy type
music when their group is being highlighted in a certain scene, an Avengers type
theme during an Avengers moment. They really did a great job at this.
The
movie does have a very small drawback for me as I feel some characters didn't
have enough screen time to shine as much as I wanted but when you think the
movie is already around two and a half hours with about forty plus characters
going you know it's already an impressive feat just to cram them all in there and
still give a solid story narrative.
Overall
this is probably the best MCU movie for me to date. Sure its not perfect but
considering on what its going for and the characters involved in the movie
clearly earn all its merits. It's not afraid to go the extra distance to tell
the story and I feel the ten years fans waited for this film is well worth it. I
seriously can't wait to see where they will bring this one next in the next MCU
movie installment.
For
those seeing the movie I'd suggest drinking light as you don't want to miss a
single minute of this film. Also there's an after credit scene you don't want
to miss.
