My Top 12 Anime of 2022

2022 is almost over so I have decided to make a TOP 12 Anime of 2022 list. This is 12 of what I think is some of the must watch anime of 2022. This list covers the whole 2022 anime. So if it first aired in 2022 its probably on the list. Why 12 you ask? Well 10 is a bit small since there are really a lot of good anime that came out this year. I would like to add that all of these are new anime so sequels don’t count, only the first seasons. So don’t expect to see anime like Overlord Season 4 on this list.

Also these are anime that I have watched and familiar with so certain so there is definitely not a definitive list. If you like an anime that isn’t on here then by all means go ahead and watch it. Also everyone has their own opinion on what is best for them so take this as just a suggestion. Anyways let us get on with the Top 12 list.

 12 - Call of the Night

Kou a middle school student who finds freedom meets a female vampire and wants to be turned into one. But becoming vampire in isn’t what he expected. Call of the Night boast good atmosphere and good visual. It has that immaculate vibe to it. Impressive soundtrack and is extremely well animated.

 

11 - Reincarnated as a Sword

Reincarnated as a Sword is exactly what the title says. Random guy finds himself reincarnated as a legendary blade. Said blade finds a cat girl wielder and they venture out into the fantasy world slaying monsters and going on all sort of adventure. It is an isekai sure but something really different too.

10 - Akiba maid War 

Take the violent unpredictable world of organized crime syndicate then mix it up with cute maid girls, some dark comedy and maid café. The result is something really out of the box and surprisingly refreshing. This series takes the concept seriously and wears it on its shoulder with pride resulting in some really crazy and interesting storylines.

9 - Gundam Witch from Mercury 

A world where Gundam is banned and is said to have taken the lives of its pilots. Here stood a girl and her fish out of water story. She enrols in a mech school and tries to live a normal school life as she learns about the world. The plot mixes personal character drama with decent mech duels.

8 - Fuuto PI 

An example of what kamen Rider would be like if turned into an anime. With great animation and a detective feel that is the show of kamen Rider W this is sure a ride for Kamen Rider fans. Best part is you don’t need to know kamen Rider lore to enjoy it.

7 - Ya Boy Kongming

Legendary Romance of the Three Kingdom tactician Kongming gets transported forward into time in modern Japan where he uses his superb war tactics into helping a young musician into a star. Catchy music and good writing specially when you are familiar with the lore of the Three Kingdoms.

6 - My Dress Up Darling

Timid doll maker is tasked to help a famous female classmate Marin break into the cosplay world by making her a cosplay outfit. Slice of life sort of fish out of water tale and a surprisingly charming romcom with surprisingly well detailed research on actual cosplay stuff.

5 - Lycoris Recoil

Young girls tasked and secretly trained into protecting the peace by covertly eliminating evil. Its basically what happens when you have the shady world of John Wick but all of the operatives are all young girls. It is like mixing peanut butter and chocolate. The action is impressive and well done. The world building and the story is surprisingly good too.

 

4 - Uncle from Another World

Said Uncle wakes up for a long coma but in reality was isekaid into the fantasy world. He comes back with all his magical abilities from that magic world but now must deal with adjusting to the real world. It pokes fun at isekai tropes and is truly an enjoyable show if your into these genre.

 

3 - Cyberpunk Edge Runners

Down on his luck young man David joins the Edgerunner to earn money to make a living in the unforgiving and brutal streets of Night City. A anime series base on the game Cyberpunk 2077 it sports some really excellent cyberpunk action scenes. It also deals with people struggling with personal issues.

2 - Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw man follows the story of Denji who fuses with his devil dog to transform parts of his body into chainsaw. The show is both brutal and well animated. It has charming and funny character while at the same time has enough of an engaging plot to keep you hooked. It mixes dark comedy and a bleak yet touching story.

 

1 - Spy x Family

Famous secret agent Twilight must “build a family” to do a mission. Unknown to him his daughter is adopted telepath and the woman he agrees to marry is a dangerous spy working for the other side. The show mixes both heart warming story and super spy action that anyone can really enjoy.
