This
list will only include movies I've managed to watched this year. Expect some of
your favorites to not to make the list cause it be a disservice to rank a film
I haven't watched yet. With that thing clear let get on with the My Top 10 Movies
of 2019.
10
Starwars: the Rise of the Skywalker
A
fitting end to the "Skywalker Saga" Starwars: The Rise of the
Skywalker starts off my top 10 list. I'm a big fan of Starwars but even I can't
deny that there is still a lot to be desired in terms of story consistency in
this film. Still I found myself entertained and it deserve a spot in my Top ten
list.
9
Aladdin
A
decent live action adaptation of the beloved Disney cartoon by the great Robin
Williams. Although the film doesn't live up to the original it still has its
own spin on the beloved Aladdin tale and a couple of new surprises here and
there. Wil Smith is no Robin Willaims but he brings his own style into the Genie
persona.
8
Frozen 2
We
don;t need a new Frozen film but Frozen 2 does managed to expand the world of
Elsa and Anna and brings the adventure into a whole new place that isn't
covered with just ice and snow. Not bad considering the first film was just
based on a fairy tale story of the Snow Queen. Its not going to capture the
flair of the first film but it's a welcome addition.
7 Pokemon Detective Pikachu
A
movie based on a video game done right. The film makes the world where pocket
monster and human live together in a world. based on a game with the same title
where Pikachu is a Detective who must help a boy find the mystery of his
missing father. All thanks to Justice Smith and Ryan Reynolds excellent voice
acting as the beloved Pikachu.
6
Captain Marvel
The
MCU first female lead superhero movie. Captain Marvel is a beloved addition to
the growing line of MCU films. The movie has some good action scenes and the
chemistry between Brie Larson and Samuel Jackson just works as a fun
entertaining body cop mix that has aliens and a cat.
5
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
The
third chapter to a beloved franchise How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
sees our beloved characters Hiccup and his friend dragon Toothless mature and
tackle the responsibilities of growing up. A visually stunning film with a
wonderful story that both adults and kids will enjoy.
4
The LEGO Movie: The Second Part
The
continuation of the LEGO movie story where Emmets beloved city turn into a wasteland
and a new threat faces them in a form of mysterious invaders. The movie has
matured and stepped up from the original by giving the viewers a more story and
character driven tale. Surprisingly more mature than the first movie for sure.
3
Toy Story 4
Toy
Story ended with the third film but somehow Toy Story 4 managed to expand on
that tale and delivering us a few more lessons about life and growing up as the
gang are forced to make life changing decisions now that their owner is all
grown up. It delivers the same emotional feel Toy Story had and a little more.
2
Spiderman Far from Home
The
second film for the Sony Spiderman version with Tom Holland Far from Home
explores a world Spiderman without Ironman as his mentor. A movie where he is
faced with world threatening decision. It sets up Spiderman moving forward and
the possibilities of how bright the Spiderman franchise can get if done
correctly. A well deserved second place in my Top 10 any day.
HONORABLE
MENTIONS: Jumanji: the Next Level, The Secret Life of Pets 2, Bumblebee (2018)
cause we managed wo watch it in 2019 due to MMFF and Hello, Love Goodbye
And the number one movie for 2019 for me is...
1
Avengers End Game
Avengers
End game takes number spot as this movie marks the MCU year long line of
superhero movies. The film serves as a
conclusion to the story of the MCU up to that point, ending the story arcs for
several main Marvel's film characters. A culmination of 22 years of MCU movies
that started with Robert Downey Ironman. It's the highest grossing movie of all
time as of present surpassing even Avatar.
