And
being somewhat of a completionist of sort I've decided to do a quick review of
Homecoming before I get started on the review on Far from Home. Don't worry
this won't effecting my review of the latest Spider film. So buckle up folks
and I will try to be brief.
Peter
Parker tries to balance his superhero life and high school life as he defends the
city of Orleans. He wants to prove himself a true superhero so when a new super
villain shows up in town he dives head strong into danger and finds more than
what he bargained for.
The
plot of Homecoming is refreshing for one this is a brand new take on spiderman
origin that is rather bold and new compared to the past Spiderman origin story
we seen in films thus far. Sure there's a lot of things that needs to getting
used to namely some of the characters sudden ethnic changes but when you get
past that its a pretty solid film.
Being
all different the plot is a surprise and a great ride for old and new fans of
spidey are treated to new stuff and a surprisingly layered and compelling
villain in any Spiderman comparable to Doc Oct from Spiderman 2. The fact that
the villain connects to both Spiderman and his alter ego Peter Parker is a surprising twist.
The
casting takes a while to getting use to but once you get past that initial
shock you eventually grow to love the other characters in their own unique
role. I specially love Ned being played by jacob Batalon since he and Peter
parker blend together perfectly. Micheal keaton as the Vulture is also awesome.
And Tom Holland nails the Spiderman role perfectly. Also having Tony Stark be
part of this is just the perfect icing on the cake.
The
special effects are pretty decent although there are minor scenes that you know
were cgi but those are short and far in between. The fight scenes are excellent
and well done and I like how this is not that world ending high stakes story
that most superheroes are. Just a grounded Spiderman story of Peters high
school life.
Overall
Spiderman Homecoming is probably one of the best Spiderman film to date. The
bold new take on Spiderman origin is both fresh and enjoyable. The movie isn't
perfect by any standard but it's still one of the best Spider stories put to
film. A must watch for any Spiderman and superhero fan.
