Geekatana Movie Review: Toy Story 3 (2010)

This will be my quick review of Toy Story 3. The last movie before I start my review of the fourth Toy Story film. This film come out back in 2010 and has constantly improved upon itself in small steps. It was Pixar and Disney's first attempt at a fully computer animated film back in 1995.

It's been over ten years since the second film and a lot of folks have all nearly given up on seeing another Toy Story movie to hit theaters. I'm sure a lot of folks are skeptical whether this third film will be as good as the two previous films before it.

Toy Story 3 The toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home.

Just when you think the plot of Toy Story has run its course they bring up the plot of Toy Story 3 and it pretty much proved me wrong. The idea of Andy growing up and the toys moving on was a perfect ending to a trilogy. It had the comedy and the adventure and at the same time had the emotional attachment to it a lot of folks and even adults can relate to.

The main story isn't original as just toys trying to get back home to their owner which was pretty much the plot of the first two films if you look at it by base form. Toy Story 3 does feel like a toy jail break as Woody and the rest try to get out of this prison like place to go home to their owner who is now too old to have them anymore.

The cast of Tom hanks and Tim Allan did an amazing job once again on bringing these beloved characters to life. The rest of the cast gave a solid performance although there are some issues for me with the antagonist being a little weak on this one. Then again the plot does more than make up for it in the end.

If you watched Toy Story 2 and got emotional on that one then you will no doubt feel a lot more on this films as a lot of the emotional themes really hit home. I rarely get the feels in movies specially animated ones but this one really hits the spot. It's a story of moving on and it's always hard.

The music was good too giving that additional weight to the film. Toy Story 3 strikes the perfect balance of comedy. emotion and adventure very few films can do and this films doubles down on it. Only wished the villain was a lot more menacing but then again I don't think the evil aspect of the bad guy was the real focus.

Toy Story 3 despite being released nearly more than a decade late is a perfect end to a beloved toy movie trilogy that both touched viewers both kids and adults alike. It's not perfect but it delivers enough of the things that make the Toy Story franchise great. A must for any and all fans of the franchise that started back in 1995.
