Ant Man and the Wasp Movie Review

Where was Ant Man during Infinity War incident? This was probably one of the main reason I wanted to watch Ant man and the Wasp so much. There's been a number of fan theories going on the internet these past few months before the movie trailer was dropped. Ant man wasn't in Infinity War which was strange since he was there during Avengers Civil War. So comic and movie theorist are abuzz with their own interpretations and predictions on where he could be.

Yet still even after reading some of these theories I try pushed them out of my head and let the movie surprise me. I've decided to watch this movie on 4D cinema with my sister just for the kicks. We both thought that watching the movie in 4D will add to the wow factor of the movie. I promise that this will not however affect my review of this film in anyway.

The movie Ant man and the Wasp was an enjoyable film and in lots of cases was its own thing. The film doubles up on the action and comedy so folks who enjoy these aspects in the first Ant man film will enjoy this movie even more. I'm also happy to report that the trailer didn't gave any plot away and none of the fan theories I've read made it into the film. That being said not all of the jokes landed. But me and the audience was chuckling at a lot of the funny moments in the film regardless.

The idea of Scott Lang juggling his superhero life and normal life was a treat to see but this film was also about Hank and Hope Van Dyme as the Wasp than it was about Ant man. Some incident that happened in the first film play a role in this second movie but this movie was gracious enough to give a short flashback of some scenes in the first movie so those that hadn't watched the first Ant man film can just dive in.

Things get complicated though as a ghost from the past starts causing trouble for Hank Pym and his group. A female with the ability to phase through objects. I'm not going to spoil the plot as I feel this movie did a good job as story goes than the first Ant Man movie. This film much like the first one has a great way of getting you glued from beginning to end. There's barely a dull moment.

The characters are fun as always, Paul Rudd as Ant man is still as funny and charming as always and the added new characters in the film does a decent job to add variety to the story. This film like most superhero film still does suffer from a lack of decent villains although you do feel sympathetic towards the antagonist at some point although I feel they could have done more.

Cinematography wise the action sequences are a lot better. This movie knows how to do a fight scene with shrinking powers although some scenes is clearly borrowed from other movies but still feels like its own thing over all. The 4D experience was nice but I feel this is better viewed on a normal screen or at the most an IMAX but it was still nice seeing it in 4D.

As plot goes I wish they have delve more on the Quantum side of this one since Quantum technology is what sets Ant man apart from ironman and other superhero movies. The movie is around two hours so be prepared since this movie is pact from beginning to end. There is an ending scene was kind of predictable for me though since its been done in other movies and comics before but it really doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the movie.

While the first movie dealt more on Scott Lang being Ant man and his character this new film also deals with Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyme as well. This is more than just a heist movie this time too which is more of a cat and mouse chase with each side witching as the mouse and the cat.

Ant Man and the Wasp is as good as the first Ant man movie with elements here and there that makes it its own in terms of story and plot. If you like the first Ant man film you will definitely also like this one. It has twice of what made the first film good and a somewhat more original plot that deals with personal problems of the three main characters. Solid movie overall

Also be sure to watch for a before and after credit scene on this one.
