Jurassic World the Fallen Kingdom Non Spoiler Review

Finally got enough time to post a review for Jurassic World the Fallen Kingdom. I have watched and re watched all the four Jurassic films before doing this review so that I can appreciate this new addition to the Jurassic film franchise. This will be a non spoiler review of the movie but there might be minor spoilers.

I had the pleasure to watch this movie via a special screening during opening night. The movie ticket came with a free Jurassic poster. I even got lucky enough to get the promotional Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom popcorn.

Three years after the fall of the Jurassic World theme park. Isla Nublar where the dinosaurs now flourish after the parks abandonment due to the incident in the previous film now faces an even bigger threat. The dormant volcano of the island is now active threatening the dinosaur of the island into extinction. It's up to Chris Pratts character and his friends to help them. But getting the dinosaurs to safety is just the start of their problem.

The first part of the film is everything you expect in a Jurassic movie with dinosaur action and a thrill ride fans of the franchise will surely enjoy. The later part of the film is darker and frightening as it feels more like a horror film. This new approach is good but surely not for everyone specially when your used on the old approach that Jurassic films usually take.

The film does an excellent job of making you feel a roller coaster of emotions from fear, anger and even sadness. The movie is probably doing something right if it could make you feel sad over some fictional character on screen.

Excellent use of cinematography, visuals and music that it can even rival Jurassic World. A strong narrative and a good message. The movie ending opens up a whole world of possibilities if they plan to do a third Jurassic World film.

Im so glad the side characters in this film isn't as cringe inducing for as those kids in Jurassic World and that they actually add to the overall narrative. The main human villain of the film is rather weak for me since in the end he is just a generic boss that orders people around. Really wished they have at least gone for someone who can go toe to toe in a fist fight or weapon duel with Chris Pratts character.

I do like the many call backs and easter eggs that they have on the film that you will appreciate more if you watched all the four previous Jurassic films before this. They even play the original theme of Jurassic Park. Even Goldblums character Malcolm adds to the whole theme of the movie.

Jurassic World the Fallen Kingdom is a good movie that will give viewers more than what they bargain for and maybe some that they don't want. It's a thrilling emotional ride with dinosaurs that shows how both scary and kind they could get. At some points it even rivals Jurassic World but still comes out a bit short since it tries to be a lot of things at once. Regardless of its minor flaws it's still a good addition to the Jurassic movie franchise. A good popcorn movie with a heart.
