Finally at
the third movie of the original Starwars trilogy. I plan to do a quick review
of all the Starwars films before Starwars the Last Jedi hits theaters. Im going
to do this according to the date they were shown in theaters. If you havent
already kindly check my review of the first two Starwars films of the original
trilogy before this one.

Starwars
Return of the Jedi came out in 1983 which was three years after Empire Strikes.
The was film directed by Richard Marguand and written by Lawrence Kasdan and George Lucas from
a story by Lucas. It is the third and final film in the Starwars original trilogy.

Its the first movie I actual watched on the big screen with my father back in 1983 and as a little kid seeing this space adventure on the big screen I was highly fascinated by it...also the Emperor hideous appearance giving me a few days of sleepless nights. It was my favorite Starwars movie back then. Of course that changed when I grew up as I compared Return of the Jedi with the two other movies that came before it.

Return of
the Jedi is an awesome movie but sadly fails in comparison to the first two.
The visuals and effects are good but it just doesnt hold up much. Simply put as
great as the effects are the cgi isnt as near flawless. You can tell a certain
background in a certain scene is cgi rendered. I'm guessing the studio wanted
to put the movie out faster that they got lazy on some of the effects.

The story
is badly written in certain aspects as well. In the first movie the Empire
constructed this huge space station. So after the events in Empire Strikes Back
the Empire is once getting ready to crush the Rebellion once and for all....by
making another giant space station. Some may say that they got an outpost to
protect said space station but said outpost can be overrun by native bear like
creatures armed with rocks and sticks. The Empire need better tacticians. They
could have at least put one Star Destroyer hovering above said outpost with
fighters ready to launch at a moments notice to defend it.

The scene
where the characters interact with each other is also somewhat lacking. There
are certain scene where one would expect a certain character to get mad or be
shocked but we dont see that at all. Its like that scene was either cut or they
forgot to put it there. Im guessing they wanted to go for a lighter tone but in
the end it just hurt the movie.

Regardless of
its flaws the ship to ship battle is still as awesome and is probably the best one in the
original trilogy. It also have some redeeming factors here and there like how
well Jabba the Hutt and that creature underneath his palace is well animated. So
despite this movie being the one that cemented my love for the fandom I still
have to call this one as the weakest entry of the original trilogy. This only get an 8.5 out of 10.
