For those who had been following my Blog I plan to a review of
all the Starwars movies until Starwars the Last Jedi. I plan to do this through
chronological order of how they were shown in the movie theater. This will be
my review of the second movie in the original trilogy entitled Starwars the
Empire Strikes Back. I'd suggest you check my review of Starwars A New Hope before getting into this one.

The second
movie in the original Starwars trilogy was simply entitled Empire Strikes Back
when it was first shown in theaters back in 1980s. It was directed by Irvin
Kershner. It follows the continued exploits of Luke Skywalker and the rest of
Rebel Alliance as they fight against the evil Galactic Empire.

I never got
to watch this in theaters as I was still too young yet but I do remember
watching it on VHS at our neighbors house which I remember doing a couple of
time. For a very young kid my age back then seeing a grand space adventure was
always fun. I'd probably dont know what the plot was back then but it was all
the hype back then for the adults so most of the kids are sort of drag into it
too.

Empire
Strikes Back was the sequel to Starwars a movie that surpassed expectations and
everyone was excited to see what would happen next. Of course having destroyed
a giant space weapon in the previous movie you think the heroes would be out on
some tropical planet having a vacation but that wasnt the case in fact it was
quite the opposite.

A lot of
folks will argue that this is the best Starwars movie in all of Starwars ever
made and with valid reasons. If the first movie introduced Han Solo, Luke and Princess
Leia this one develops their characters further. Han Solo is turning a new leaf
and trying to be a hero for once, Luke Skywalker is learning to be a Jedi, Leia
is trying to act more ladylike. All of this is happening as the full force of
the Empire chases them across planet to planet. Yes folks the heroes may have won their dance with the Empires best
weapon but they are far from winning the
war. One could say they are even slowly losing it.

Visually
this movie is visually stunning as the first perhaps even more so specially
when we see our heroes jump from an ice planet, a swamp planet and a city
floating in the clouds. The ship to ship battles and the ground battle is
better. This movie just takes what we love in the first movie and turns it up
to ten.

The music
score by John Williams is still as epic and this is the first movie that
introduced the Empire march which a lot would say is the best Starwars score
ever made. with its heavy marching tune showcases the power and force that is
the Galactic Empire.

Empire also
introduces some new iconic characters into the Starwars universe, namely Yoda
and Boba Fett, whos awesome outfit made him an instant fan favorite until this
day. I should know Im a fan of Fett myself. Seriously if Darth Vader and Jabba
the Hutt respects a bounty hunter like Boba Fett you can be sure that person is
in a league of his own. And Yoda is a puppet. You know a movies done its
homework when one of its most iconic characters is a puppet.

Empire Strikes
Back is a epic movie. It has the visual, the story telling, the plot twist, the
character development, an epic musical score. This movie has easily been a
staple for Starwars movies since. It certainly is the best out of the original
trilogy. It has been some thirty plus years after it was first shown in
theaters and fans are still praising it. This was an easy perfect ten for me
and a seal of recommendation.
