Justice League Movie Review

While the world still mourns the death of Superman, earth faces a new world-threatening enemy. It's up to Batman the dark vigilante of Gotham City, and his new found friend and ally Wonder Woman, the Amazon princess from the hidden island of Themyscira, to face it. Together, they gather the most unlikely band of superheroes and outcasts to battle it.

The film is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Philippines and is directed by Zack Snyder. It is a direct sequel to Batman v Superman. The flick stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Ezra Miller as the Flash and Henry Cavill as Superman.

A visually stunning movie, Justice League is a fun-filled action pack ride with breathtaking fight scenes. The CGI is flawless except for some scenes with the villain Steppenwolf and Cyborg, which sometimes appear very CGI but it doesn't take away much from the extensive work they did on the movie. The fight scene with the amazons being one of my favorites.

Taking hints from the film Wonder Woman, the Justice League movie has sprinkles of funny one liners here and there from all of the main heroes but mostly courtesy of Ezra Miller's character, the Flash. And I admit, I got more then a few chuckles.

Sadly, as good as the movie, it is still isn't perfect. Just like Wonder Woman, it suffers from having a weak villain. The god-like Steppenwolf might have the strength to go toe-to-toe with the best of them but his character seems flat and lacks depth. Most of the character origin story isn't even really touched upon like they expected you to know the characters before you go into the movie. This would be good for the likes of Batman but I'm not sure about characters like Cyborg or Aquaman for example. Guess I wanted some visuals except for some short narration between characters. I'm sure joining together to save the world is all for the greater good but it just feels too convenient the way it was executed. Guess that's the fault of the re-shoots and the sudden change of director during production. This movie has a lot of cameo and easter eggs to look forward to and two credit scenes to anticipate at the end.

Overall the movie is enjoyable despite of its minor flaws and the action is worth the admission alone. I especially like the fact that Justice League also ties up some loose ends left by the movie Batman v Superman. You could definitely tell Batman and Wonder Woman have matured since their fight with Doomsday in the last movie giving them more character. Sadly the story feels rushed since they try to do so much within the movie's run time. It's ways better than Batman v Superman in terms of pacing and definitely a whole lot better movie than Suicide Squad.
