I've
passed by their stores before during opening where they had a super long line
but it wasn't until recently I managed to have enough free time to actually
give it a go. And the results are rather surprising.
FRNK
is located at Glorietta 3, Makati and is the first japanese Milk bar on the Philippines.
Its brought to you by Frostfive Inc with partnership with Isebelle Daza and
collaboration with Morihan. Their goal is to provide a beverage idea that also
incorporates a healthier approach thus the plant based milk based.
This
is not a "milk tea" shop however as where "tea" is the main
ingredients, FRNK main ingredient is its organic craft "milk" is the
focus and their tea is also imported directly by Morihan from Kyoto, Japan. You
can choose from dairy or non dairy milk. But for the healthy folks out there
FRNK also offers Almond Milk, brown rice milk or oat milk.
FRNK
has the usual regular milk version signature craft milk or their more organic
plant based drinks both at low calories. This is a japanese style milk drink
and the varieties can surprise even the most unique milk and milk tea drinkers
out there.
I've
never been to a Japanese Milk bar before so I'd just asked the teller for their
best seller and picked what I liked from there.
Eventually
I settled for the Blue Lava Mikuru which is surprisingly similar to milk tea
but is not too sweet. It comes with blue tea pearl. Its flavorful and creamy
without overly sugary. Blue tea, full cream milk and dark sugar. Just the right
amount of everything. Its FRNK version of the Brown Sugar drink. The large serving cost 105 pesos which I think is a good price for a Japanese Milk Bar drink.
We
also got some Dark Kokoa Mikuru which is chocolate and milk with a good serving
of dark chocolate chunks at the bottom. It's very much every dark chocolate
lovers dream in drink form. This one cost 115 pesos which I think is also well priced considering the amount of dark chocolate chunks they put in.
They
also have some flourless Chizu and Kokoa Cakes, mahca and Cocoa checkered
Cookies and japanese Kokoa Macaroons as well which will go well to any of their
beverages. The place is a bit small however so expect it to be almost always full and have a long queue line but you can always order take out like we did.
Overall FRNK is a nice change of pace from the typical beverage experience and clearly something Ill gladly try again if given the opportunity. If you like something new and refreshing that isn't your typical milk tea then you should probably give FRNK a try. There's definitely a drink
there for even the most picky drinker.
