Starwars: The Rise of the Skywalker Trailer 2 - Showed Too much and Too Little

The second trailer for Starwars: The Rise of the Skywalker just dropped and it showed some really interesting stuff. Some of it was already theorized at one point and a couple of times before. Some new stuff that nobody probably expected too. I'll go breakdown the trailer on what I find good, bad and the all stuff in between.

I'm sure this trailers been picked upon by a lot of fans by now with theories and what not so I've decided I'd give my two cents in as well. Also spoiler flag is up just in case some of these theories ever did come true in the actual film.

The trailer opens up with pretty much a lot...and I mean a lot of the scene from all the previous Starwars movies from chronological order of their release. Is this relevant to the movie or will this be just to show folks of far extending the Skywalkers story has gone.

The real meat of the trailer starts with Rey, Dameron, Finn comes to what appears to be a desert planet. I'm guessing from all the teaser trailer about the Skywalkers lineage that made up much of the beginning this would be Tattoine.

We also cut to see Leia Organna which I would guess is a cgi of her since her sad passing after the Last Jedi. I'm guessing her role will be rather brief in this one maybe just a mentor role for Rey as she undergoes more training.

We also see how vastly outnumbered the heroes are in terms of ships but the crazy part is C3PO with the red eyes. Does sith able to control droids now? Is the rumored return of Palpatine have anything to do with this? Well if ever this doesn't seem to be going the cloning Palpatine route that was in the Dark Empires EU comics.

And of course what would Starwars be without big freaking laser beams shooting from the sky. Also I like this cool shot of Kylo walking with lightning shooting from the sky. I'm not sure where this locales but it does give off the Solo movie kessel run scene.  Would be a fun easter egg if that was the case.

The shot with kylo and Rey fighting with the waters in the background feels like a nod to that Luke and Obi fight in Episode III with raging water instead of molten lava. man this trailer is really banking on the nostalgia feel. Not that I'm complaining though since the folks at Disney is keeping the good stuff for the movie itself...at least I hope so.

Finally the icing on the cake is this teaser of Rey holding a folding dual light saber. Not sure this is a dream sequence but the background feels like that scene where Luke confronts himself in that cave in one of those movies. Or it could be a clone of Rey.

It clearly showed too much on stuff that wasn't necessary and showed too much nostalgic scenes that isn't going to get the skeptical fans excited. On the other end It showed too little of what to expect to create that much of a hype either. Still from what we got from all the two trailers combined this movie can go sideways and upside down really fast.

Seriously the trailers could go a lot of ways from this point on since Starwars has even introduced time travel at one point or another in its long run. This being already the second trailer already we don't have much to go on except to watch the movie when it hits theaters.

Still I'm hoping for a lot of surprise like maybe the evil Darth Vader actually living inside C3PO like a bad virus. or maybe Rey really becoming a sith and changing places with Kylo. This is titled the Rise of the Skywalker afterall. And redemption arc is nothing new to this franchise.

Now if only we can get Sabin or Ezra jump in there. Maybe some Mandalorian can come blazing in on the action even for maybe 10 minutes of awesome screen time I mean the Disney+ Mandalorian series would have enough episode come December to get them into this. Marvel did it on Agents of Shield. Hey I can dream can I.
