GameCon PH 2018

GameCon was held last February 11-12 at the Megatrade Hall 2 of SM Megamall Philippines. I nearly was not able to go this year but managed to go since I was not really feeling well a few days before the said Convention but thankfully my fever subsided enough for me to attend. Weather has been rather fickle that month and it was not good. Was planning to post this earlier but things keep piling up on my end that it sort of took the backseat. Mostly a really busy schedule.

GameCon was a computer and video game centered Convention with the first one being held around July last year that was also held at SM Megamall. It held game tournaments, cosplay tournaments among its many attractions.

Those who know me personally knows that aside from beign a Geek and an otaku fan Im also a big a big fan of games be it video games, card games, board games, computer games or arcade games so GameCon is sort of a Convention that is right about that alley of the fandom.

Theres something for every game fandom there is. There are booths that sell different board games, from board tokens to the many different numbered dice that the Dungeon and Dragons games are famous for. Im a big fan of DnD but I never really got around to learning it. Its just way too complicated for me yet I do enjoy the DnD arcade and played about three years worth of Neverwinter Nights way back.

Theres even tables for CCG games like Magic the Gathering and the likes. Even a section for kids and adults alike to enjoy some Lego building.

I greeted some friends and fellow cosplayers I found while checking out the booths. I even found that booth that I bought that game shirt from last year. Cant believe its been a year already and Im so glad the booth owner still remembers me.

The cosplay competition is more intense as more cosplayers attended this year and I am reminded as to how tiring wearing my costume is as kids and adults alike asked for a photo.

I enjoyed the RoboRumble competition which feels like a miniature Robojocks fight only smaller and much faster. I really admire the ingenuity and time they put into making those little mechs when I can barely know how to attach an LED light on my costume.

Theres also the cosplay competition as well which was mostly about video game cosplays. I was just there to enjoy the event so I never had any plans of joining the cosplay contest. Mostly Im just there to cover the event and record some short cosplay videos.

I did wanted to get a game hoodie but they did not have the right size for me. But I did got some sticker, some pin, a geeky coin purse and a bagtag for one of my bags. Too bad I forgot to get myself a coffee mug. Ah well there is always the next time right.
