Spider-Man: No Way Home - A love letter to Sony live action Spider fans

Spider-man No Way Home was directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. It stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man. It also stars ZendayaBenedict CumberbatchJacob BatalonJon FavreauJamie FoxxWillem DafoeAlfred MolinaBenedict WongTony RevoloriMarisa TomeiAndrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire. It is based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Having watched most of the live action and animated Spider-man films I feel it be a waste not to do a review of the latest installment to the spidey franchise. This will hopefully be a more detailed review than the one I did on my FB Page. With that cleared lets get on with the review.

The story pretty  much picks up from the last Spiderman film as this movie sees Peter Parker where his secret identity was revealed to the world. Spidey being spidey tries to put his life back together with the aid of some magic from Dr Strange to magically put it back together again. Sadly due to unforeseen things avertedly ends up making it worst. He is going to need some help from some unlikely allies.

The film and most of the plot runs on nostalgia and pretty much a love letter to Spider movie fans everywhere. Safe bet that the more you know about the Spider-man films the more enjoyment you will get from this one with Easter eggs and what not littered throughout the film. If the previous Spider film saw Sony and the MCU mixing together this movie really super doubles down on that concept by mixing up things from all the previous Sony Spider films before.

I do like that they stay true to the characters in terms of their awkwardness, geekiness and their boy next door persona. Sure it at times it feels it tries too hard in pleasing everyone and comes out as campy and cliché but it still manage to be entertaining. Sadly the plot hinders on you actually seeing the last spider-man movie and at least Avengers Endgame and Infinity War to fully appreciate. This is like looking at someone really familiar yet knowing nothing about said person at all.

If you are a long time Spider-man fan then this is a must see film and chances are you have seen this movie already. The film has enough action, nostalgia and enough spider craziness to make most spider fans happy. Sadly you will need to vie the previous film to fully enjoy the plot as it greatly connects to that on. Spider-man: No way Home is both an end of a trilogy and part an origin story as it sets up more spider-man movies to come.
