Mr
Korea Unlimited Barbecue second branch opened last September 4, 2019. it was located
at Glorietta 3 Makati. Basically just across from Landmark department store. We knew a second branch was in the was being
constructed we didn't managed to go on opening day due to schedule conflicts on
our part.
As
luck would have it we went to Makati a few days later after the opening day and
since it is on our "Korean resto to eat" list we decided to spend our
dinner there to see how it stacks up to other unlimited korean barbecue resto
in the metro.
We
were serve with a serving of pork and beef as sort of appetizers while we take
our order. I checked the menu and was surprised that they offering 7 different
kinds of meat and pork. I've been to a few korean resto before and the most
I've found was at the least 5 pork and beef variants. Mr Korea had two more!
The
Unlimited Samyupsal starts at around 499 pesos. An additional 50 pesos if you
want a Hot Pot to go with the Unli Samyup. They do charge an additional 50
pesos if you eat during dine in hours which I found was around 4 pm. All the
Samyup come with at least 4 unlimited drink variety namely, iced tea juice,
cucumber juice, mango juice and blue ice tea.
Since
we came around dinner time our bill was around 600 pesos a person since we also
had the hot pot option as well. The price was pretty decent considering the
variety of unlimited pork, beef and drink variety they offer you for that price.
I stack up on mango juice since most korean resto only offer blue ice tea and
it's a nice change of taste palette for once.
Mr
Korea also got unlimited banchan (side dish) too like sweet potatoes (kamote)
among others. I'm glad they offered melted cheese dips since its one of my favorite
korean dips and not every unlimited korean bbq resto has it. It taste like pure
heaven when you deep a freshly cooked beef into those. Yum.
Mr
korea is brought to you by the same group that brought us Jin Joo and it shows
since the interior is warm and cozy and bright. I'm not much to compare but Mr
korea is far better and a step up from what Jin Joo was in term of bang for
your buck in term of unlimited korean barbecue. Even the staff is a lot for
friendly this time. We tried most of the beef and pork on the menu and they are
all good.
Mr
korea isn't without its share of criticism as some of the meat are a bit too
spicy or salty for my taste. This also applies to the side dish...thankfully
there's the melted cheese to clash with the salty side of things. Also the one
and a half hour time limit isn't to my liking since some korean resto offer unlimited
time although with slightly less meat options and drinks.
Still
the complaints I have are minor compared to how much Mr korea offers in term of
variety both in its meat selection and drink variety. Plus its way more accessible
than most korean resto. The price might be a little too steep for certain folks
specially during dinner hours but the variety is worth the price. We could tell immediately how well the resto
is just by the number of people dinning in it. It was almost a full house...and
this was on a Monday!
Overall
Mr korea is a nice place to go to when you want more variety in your unlimited
korean barbecue experience. The price can be a bit steep when compared to other
korean resto however. The four variety of drinks means there is a drink for
even the most picky drinker. It still not in the best korean barbecue category
but I'm willing to put it in my Top 5 unlimited korean resto list.
